Columbus State:

We offer an articulation with Columbus State that allows enrolled apprentices to earn tuition-free credit toward a construction-related Associate Degree.

Management Education:

Have you promoted someone into a project managers or supervisor position because they are a great employee or have been with your company a very long time, only to find out these individuals do not have the necessary skill sets to make them effective project managers or executives? ABC Central Ohio, in conjunction with Strategic Business Directs, has developed a phased program designed to assist an owner in moving an individual project manager from point A to point B in their respective discipline or specific job responsibilities much quicker than allowing them to evolve under their own resources and skillsets. Each plan is customized for the individual employee according to their strengths and weaknesses within their respective positions. As an owner, you should not assume that everyone is at the same levels or assume that they will all produce the same results for the company. You can train everyone the exact same way and still not have the individuals you train producing consistent results with their efforts. The goal for most owners is to get your resources producing at their maximum capabilities on an ongoing basis.

High School Education:

ABC Central Ohio strives to build partnerships with area High Schools to make career and technical education a priority and viable option for high school graduates. Job opportunities in the construction field are endless for students and don’t require a traditional 2- or 4-year degree. Instead, these high-tech, high-stakes, huge earning-potential careers encourage students to earn while they learn through an accredited and DOL recognized Apprenticeship Training Program. By the end of 2017, the state of Ohio will require over 100,000 skilled construction workers to fill the labor need of the state. Instead of racking up large amounts of debt by going to a traditional college for 2-4 years, students can help close this gap by completing an Apprenticeship Program.

ABC Central Ohio supports the Construction Pilot Program at the Fort Hayes Career Center in Columbus, Ohio. The primary goal of this program is to prepare participants to enter the construction industry through an opportunity to work as paid interns.

The Ohio Construction Academy. Founded by the ABC Central Ohio in 2013, OCA is a career technical charter school that aims to provide high school students an innovative educational opportunity to explore construction-related careers through an excellent foundation in academics and rigorous contextual, hands-on curriculum [www.ohioconstructionacademy.org]
