Craft trainees and apprentices from across the country travel each year to compete for top honors in their chosen craft. For the competitors, the National Craft Championships allows them to demonstrate their superior skills, training and safe work practices. For the training sponsors, employers and ABC chapters, the NCC demonstrates a staunch commitment to the career path the construction industry offers. As part of ABC’s campaign to promote the merit shop philosophy and its members, ABC honors the National Craft Championships’ gold medalists, the Craft Instructor of the Year and the Craft Professional of the Year each year at the Washington Nationals’ Freedom Fireworks baseball game in early July.
