New ANSI Standards for Aerial Work Platforms

March 12, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) creates standards that govern the design and use of aerial work platforms across North America. New ANSI standards for the U.S. were published in December 2018 and become effective in December 2019. The industry now has less than one year to become compliant with the new ANSI standards.

Everyone associated with aerial work platforms will be impacted by the new standards. Owners, operators, occupants, supervisors, manufacturers, dealers, and people that rent aerials will need to make changes in the areas of training, job site safety, and machine selection to accommodate the new standards.

There are three new ANSI standards that cover machine design, safe use, and training. Machine Design standards (A92.20) govern the design, safety requirements and testing of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs). Safe Use standards (A92.22) govern the application, maintenance, and safe operation of MEWPs. Training standards (A92.24) govern training requirements, topics, and methods for MEWPs. The impact of each of these standards on MEWP users and operators will be covered in this webinar.
