On Sept. 2, 2026, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced the publication of two new recordkeeping training resources:

• Tutorial on Completing the OSHA Recordkeeping Forms. This presentation explains how to properly complete the OSHA recordkeeping forms, including when to use Forms 300, 301 and 300A and how to record workplace injuries and illnesses. OSHA designed the presentation for employers, safety and health managers, human resources staff and anyone responsible for preparing and maintaining OSHA injury and illness records. According to OSHA, completing the tutorial takes approximately 30 minutes.

• 29 CFR Part 1904: Recording and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illnesses. This presentationdiscusses OSHA’s regulations for recordkeeping and reporting workplace injuries and Illnesses under 29 CFR Part 1904. It includes a step-by-step review of the decision tree for recording work-related injuries and illnesses to help employers determine whether a case should be recorded. The presentation was designed for employers, safety and health managers, human resources professionals and compliance officers responsible for maintaining OSHA injury and illness records. According to OSHA, completing the tutorial takes about one to two hours.

ABC encourages members responsible for OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping to review these new resources as a training or refresher tool to help ensure they understand applicable recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
